Solomon van Hamer (c. 1625-1683) was a Dutch thinker from Rotterdam and former con artist known for identity fraud across Northern Europe. After deceiving wealthy merchants with fake identities and forged documents, he later wrote about deception, self-identity, and the "roles" people perform in society. His ideas resemble modern catfishing culture.
